We are on a mission at the 37th ward to cure this violence that has plagued our communities for so long. We continue to fight for jobs, fight for housing, fight for our kids, yet it is hard to keep up with the legacy of violence in Austin and beyond. Yes, crime is declining, graduation rates are up, and we staying positive but we know the realities we have with mental health, rising taxes, and gentrification. We need the community to come out more than ever to help our communities more than ever. We are planning a youth summer program and would like your input. We ran one last year after August 5th after summer school finished and it was a huge success. We are talking with a few community groups that have moved to the neighborhood like Heartland Alliance, and Institute for Non Violence to put these plans into action.
